Genre exploration draft 3 tips

Overall comments:
-everyone improved :)
-1/2 of you improved by 1 grade or more :)
-those who didn't, must complete draft 3
-anyone can still complete draft 3

Tips to improve:
-general conventions should be developed and have at least 6-7
-have 1 subgenre (info & pictures) on 1 page
-only a small few of you still need to work on presentation/organisation
-small few of you choosing wrong films for wrong subgenre - maybe do a different subgenre
-for written description for each film in subgenre you must explain how it is BOTH genres (maybe 1-2 bullet points for each genre) example if you said 'the notebook' is drama & romance - how is it drama? How is it romance? (Be specific in your answer .... Don't just say something like 'its serious' or 'it's about love'

Blog teacher feedback

Your next assignment will be to analyse previous AS blogs. (just like you did the videos)

Some of your blogs are looking great and some of you have taken initiative to be creative and place images and create interesting and engaging templates. Well done.

Teacher comments to improve:
-you should by next week have an original and engaging template (not just plain white)  be careful to not make it too OTT - you can't have a busy background or you won't be able to read the text
-don't have heavy text (long/bulky paragraphs) - try to make the text more presentation/organised so it is more inviting to read.  Blog posts are not about QUANTITY but about QUALITY
-you are marked on presentation and organisation of your blog including the text (how it is layed out etc) so all pictures should be presented consistently (for example all centered, medium size, with captions)
-have consistency in text - same font/size/layout/colour etc.  make subtitles and body text consistent  (ex questions and answers)
-every single post needs a title
-make sure you keep up with work - some people already missing blog posts.
-use correct grammar and spelling (especially capital letters) - this is part of communication mark
-have pictures often - not just all text  (example the review of closet/runaway would have been better if you had screen grabs to support your written reviews)

AS Previous C/W analysis (partner) TEACHER FEEDBACK

Lowest grade:  D2
Highest grade:  B2
Average grade:  C/D

I was generally impressed with your ability to evaluate previous AS c/w.  You could generally evaluate with WWW & EBI at a satisfactory level, some of you being able to critically analyse using effective media terminology.

To improve:
-not enough people had a range of comments from the MARK SCHEME  (most of you just said something about shots and music) - there are loads of things to talk about!!!!!  (remember the WHOLE mark scheme)
-to determine the plot and enigma you must look at the clues (images) in the videos, thinking about denotation/connotation - and how that creates meaning  (ex photography magazines = show she is a photographer)
-some of you determined the wrong genre! so you really need to think about how the films meet the conventions of each genre
-most of you completed questions on blog correctly but a lot of you still need to work on presentation - not just a long bulky paragraph, make the questions stand out from answers (think about spacing, underlining, bold, italics, colour etc.)

There is no opportunity to draft this work as it was a test for me to see what you were capable of.
(only improvements are to some people to complete questions on blog please)

Mostly well done.
